We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic – Marine to perform preventative and basic corrective maintenance of oil spill response equipment, including but not limited to response vessels and small boats, skimmers, pumps, and vehicles under the limited direction of the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor.

Clean Rivers Cooperative is an oil spill response organization that operates on the Columbia and Willamette River system. We operate and maintain a fleet of over 15 oil spill response vessels, various vehicles and trailers.

The Maintenance Mechanic – Marine will have the opportunity to grow in the role and train to be a Spill Response Manager in our rotating on-call pool.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to marine vessels in accordance with company standards and regulatory agency standards with limited supervision.
  • Responsible for entering, updating, and maintaining service records of the work performed.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations of machinery and conduct research on how to effectively complete repairs and source necessary parts.
  • Maintains yard and shop equipment in accordance with company and applicable regulatory agencies standards.
  • Maintains safe workplace standards and a clean and organized work area in the shop and yard.
  • Maintains an inventory and supply of mission critical tools and equipment. 

 

Requirements:

  • Requires 5+ years of mechanic experience including equipment maintenance and demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Specialized equipment used in this job include vehicles, vessels and small boats, forklift, pumps, and skimming equipment.
  • An associate’s degree, Industrial Trade Certificate, or related military occupational specialty/rating (ex: USCG Machinery Technician) is strongly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to repair and operate a wide range of machinery including engines, winches, motors, and transmissions.
  • Knowledge of the operational theory of high-speed marine and industrial engines, both 2 and 4 cycle is required.
  • The position requires basic diagnostic and repair abilities with regard to marine subsystems such as pneumatic control systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
  • Requires basic knowledge of marine electronics and electrical systems and the ability to repair light and heavy-duty vehicles and trailers.
  • Requires a high level of attention to accuracy and detail as well as strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be familiar with computers and able to use email and spreadsheets in Excel for data entry and record keeping.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift or have the ability to pass Forklift Operator certification.
  • Position requires a current 24-Hour HAZWOPER Certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
  • Requires the ability to travel regionally when needed.

Employment is contingent upon:
